Controls
The entire game runs on a single input mechanic, which is part of its charm:
- Left Mouse Button or Spacebar (Hold) — Jump and begin rotating
- Release — Stop rotation and extend your body for landing
- Left / Right Arrows — Tilt mid-air on some platforms
- R — Restart the current level
The longer you hold, the more rotations your character completes. Release at the wrong time and you will faceplant into the ground in spectacular ragdoll fashion.
Trick Types
Not all flips are created equal. The game features multiple trick styles that earn different amounts of points:
- Tuck Flip — The basic backflip with knees pulled to chest. Easy to control, good for beginners learning timing.
- Pike Flip — Legs kept straight, body folded at the hips. Higher difficulty, higher score.
- Scissor Flip — Legs alternate in a scissoring motion during rotation. Tricky to land cleanly but looks incredible.
- Layout Flip — Fully extended body backflip. Maximum style points, maximum risk.
Chaining Tricks for Massive Scores
The real scoring potential comes from chaining multiple tricks together in a single jump. Landing a Pike into a Scissor before sticking the touchdown earns a combo multiplier that can double or triple your base score.
To chain effectively, you need enough airtime, which means launching from the right spot on each platform. Higher platforms give more air, but also demand faster rotation to complete everything before landing.
Landing Mechanics
Sticking the landing is everything. The game evaluates your landing based on two factors: body angle and rotation speed at the moment you touch down.
- Perfect landing: Body is upright, rotation has stopped. Full points awarded.
- Wobbly landing: Slight angle or residual spin. Reduced points.
- Crash landing: Body is sideways or upside down. No points, and you usually have to retry.
The sweet spot is releasing your rotation about half a rotation before you need to land. This gives your character time to extend and stabilize before touching down.
Progression Tips
- Start with Tuck Flips until you can consistently nail perfect landings. Points are irrelevant if you crash.
- Each of the 8 levels contains 10 unique flip challenges. Completing all of them unlocks additional content.
- Arcade Mode becomes available after progression, offering endless flipping with escalating difficulty.
- Watch the landing zone markers. They indicate where you should be aiming to touch down for maximum points.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many levels does Wacky Flip have? The game features 8 challenging levels, each containing 10 unique flip challenges to complete, plus an unlockable Arcade Mode for endless play.
Why do I keep crashing on landings? You are likely releasing the flip button too late. Try releasing about half a rotation before you think you need to. Your character needs time to stabilize mid-air.
What is the highest-scoring trick? The Layout Flip earns the most base points, but chaining multiple tricks together with combo multipliers produces the highest overall scores.
