Among Us - Trust No One
Among Us is a social deduction game where you and up to 14 other players are crewmates on a spaceship, completing tasks to keep things running smoothly. Except one or more of you are impostors whose only goal is to sabotage the ship and eliminate the crew without getting caught.
The magic of this game is in the meetings. When a dead body is reported (or someone hits the emergency button), everyone gathers to discuss who they think the impostor is. Accusations fly, alibis are questioned, and someone gets voted out. If you voted out the impostor, great. If you voted out an innocent crewmate, oops.
How to Play
As a Crewmate
Your job is to complete all your assigned tasks around the map while staying alive. Tasks range from simple (swipe a card, fix wiring) to multi-step (empty the garbage, calibrate the distributor). The task bar at the top of the screen fills as everyone completes their work. Fill it completely and the crew wins.
But you also need to watch for suspicious behavior:
- Someone standing near a vent (only impostors can use vents)
- A player following you closely for an extended time
- Someone you saw near a location where a body was later found
- A player who was in a room alone with someone who turned up dead
As an Impostor
You fake tasks while hunting for isolated crewmates to kill. You have a cooldown between kills, so choosing the right moment matters. You can also use vents to quickly move between rooms and escape after a kill.
Sabotage is your other weapon. You can trigger reactor meltdowns, cut the lights, or disable communications. Sabotages force crewmates to split up and respond, creating perfect opportunities to pick them off.
Controls
- Movement: WASD or arrow keys
- Interact / Kill: Spacebar or E (when near a valid target)
- Report Body: R when near a dead body
- Use Vent: V when standing near a vent (impostor only)
- Map / Sabotage: M to open the map panel
Tips for Winning
- Crewmates: Stick with at least one other person. Solo crewmates are easy targets. Buddy system saves lives.
- Crewmates: If you see someone vent, call an emergency meeting immediately and state exactly what you saw and where.
- Impostors: Do not over-explain during meetings. The more you talk, the more likely you are to contradict yourself.
- Impostors: When faking tasks, watch the task bar. Real tasks cause the bar to fill. If you stand at a task and the bar does not move, observant players will notice.
FAQ
Q: How many impostors can be in a single game? A: Depending on the lobby settings, there can be 1 to 3 impostors. More impostors means more chaos and a tougher game for the crew. Most public games use 1 or 2.
Q: What are the best maps in Among Us? A: The Skeld is the classic spaceship map and great for beginners. Polus is larger with more outdoor sections. The Airship, based on the Henry Stickmin series, is the biggest and most complex map with multiple floors and moving platforms.
Q: Can I play Among Us with friends using voice chat? A: Absolutely, and it is the best way to play. During meetings, mute yourself if you are dead (ghosts are not supposed to influence votes). Many groups use Discord for voice chat while playing.
